Gingerbread Village to Support Ronald McDonald House Charities

Decorating a gingerbread house was taken to a whole new level after culinary students from the Pikes Peak Community College Chapel Hill Colorado spent a quarter building themed houses all from just gingerbread and food! The students built a gingerbread village for the local Chapel Hill Mall and all its visitors. The students built the village so that people may bid on it and raise money from the Ronald McDonald House Charities. The village is composed of original pieces of art, made entirely edible items. It was an assignment for the students and they put in a lot of work, but the students say it’s the cause that counts.

Eri Lugo, one of the students in the PPCC program commented, “"It makes you feel good, deep down inside. It's all to benefit a really good cause, I have two kids of my own so, when I was working on our project, that's who I thought about. I kind of put myself in their shoes and try to see things through their eyes and that's what we try to pursue.” An additional student, Angie Hopkins, stated “It amazing, but more so for the good of the people that it hopefully will be auctioned off.  and it will raise a lot of money for the Ronald McDonald house that most important, but people getting to come by and see it is pretty fun it's pretty exciting to see what we've created.”
