Defense Wins Championships, But it Helps Kids in Need Too!
The Texas Tech Football team needed to make sure their defense was ready to go as they prepared to play high powered offenses in the Big 12 this year. However their defense has much more to play for then just bowl eligibility or a conference championship. This year marked the 17th season that Texas Tech Football teamed with the Ronald McDonald House Charities in Lubbock, Texas. The way it works is every time the Texas Tech defense sacks the opposing teams' quarterback money is donated to RMHC. Donators can choose if they would like to make a one time donation or if they would like to pledge to donate per sack per game. Pledgesackwin.com is where people should go if they want to get involved with the cause. When the money is pledged or donated all of it goes to The Ronald McDonald House in Lubbock, Texas where they will use it to help local kids. The money will help keep families together while their child is sick, it will also keep them near the medical facility. The program is fittingly called S.A.C.K which stands for Support and Comfort Kids. This is a way for Red Raiders fans to give back to their community while giving them yet another reason to support their defense. CEO Dina Jeffries gave her full support of this long time effort between Tech and RMHC. "This is a great way to give back to the community. The money stays local and we are all fired up for Red Raider football and helping kids and families stay together." Keep up to date with the Red Raider defense by checking the breakdown to see how much money they are raising with their play.
